How to create / promote Quake 2 related videos on YouTube?

It would be good to hear from someone with positive experience publishing HD Youtube videos ... Recently we've had some of our players trying to post some on YouTube with mixed results:

30 views?  hmmmmmm.... I've been told this video has been made under the influence, so go easy. The problem is low view count, and generally unrelated videos showing up, so not many people are finding them. I'm not an expert on Youtube, so I can't really recommend many successful solutions. I'm thinking they should use Q2 Pro with Fraps for better quality, but maybe there are better alternatives?

Perhaps someone here has some experience publishing and creating successful Quake 2 vids,
and can help us shed some light on the mystery that is this YouTube black box. 

On there I've seen even the whackiest videos get thousands of views, while this one has only 30. I think there's more to it than meets the eye. It'd be nice to know what guidelines to follow to get maximum views. One shouldn't resort to using misleading thumbnails of boobs in every video to get people to click, or should they? I realize that wodx videos might not be for everyone, but still, 30 views?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTmTvgrYFro (video quality is decent even at 420p) You have to remember youtube does not autamtically play in HD for other people, they have to choose it in their option

the only thing against it really is the fact it has the watermark fraps along the top and the video is not in the full screen size. You could also use scalehud command to make the score and everything a tad bigger. i think i used scalehud 2? Also there is a bit too much flashyness aswell. I forget the command to rurn off all the flashing

if you are using fraps to record you want it set to 30fps, and you will also want to force height and width in q2 console to 1080x720. This will result in fraps recording in the opengl window to that size which will fit perfectly into youtube window size, so you won't have the black lines going down the side.

You may also want to use a high res pack and choose some skins that really stand out. red skins and blue skins do not work so well. The high res pak i used for my videos can be found here http://alpha.tastyspleen.net/ and click on high res pak
