Initially he made a post saying "fags" and included a link to a PHP script he'd used to erase all his forum posts, replacing their content with "."

So I restored the posts from the database backup, removed the modify_own_posts ability on his account, and pronounced him a dickweed for his efforts.

Was planning to leave it at that (as far as administrative response), and attempted to initiate a conversation to learn more about his motivations, while also giving my reasons for preferring not to leave holes in the middle of archived conversation threads.

However, his response seemed to indicate he would be looking for ways to hack the forum in retaliation for not getting his way with his initial erasure script.

At that point I deleted his forum account and blocked his current IP at the router, as I'm just not going to waste time or energy with someone making those kinds of threats.

I've "kinda" done the same thing before. Only I didn't use no sissy little script, I did it all manually and it took me about 3 hours. Not HERE. No, this was on the EoM forums. I used to be in EoM for a period of about a year and some change, I believe. In fact, I kinda became the clan leader. Being so new to the clan and the modern Q2 community in general, it's a little unheard of for someone like me to instantly become a clan leader. But as many people will remember, there were "issues" with that clan, primarily with how [EoM]Processor would use two or three different names and pretend that they were different people in order to make the clan look bigger and more active than it was, as well as Processors off-the-wall combative stance on most everything which made him a favorite community punching bag most of the time. So it kinda made sense to have someone like me acting as figurehead clan leader to restore some credibility to the clan. While I was there, I recruited pretty heavily and eventually built the roster up to about 8 or 10 people. And then at one point, Processor started trying to overrule me on things, particularly in how he wanted to strictly refer to the clan as the "EoM group" rather than "clan EoM" because he thought the term "clan" was starting to get a bad reputation in many people's minds. I thought that idea was incredibly stupid and pointless and embarassing, and resented him constantly trying to usurp my authority to make decisions. That was kinda the straw that broke the camels back. I sat and took so much ridiculous crap being associated with him and dealing with him, that I just snapped. I decided I was gonna leave EoM with no warning at all, and I erased every last one of my posts that I ever made on the EoM forums, as well as the entirety of any thread that I started.

Was he mad about it the next day when he saw it? Oh you bet your sweet aunt Selma's ass he was mad about it. He went fucking frothing at the mouth apeshit bananas, man! Felt pretty good to finally let him know what I really thought about him and was keeping bottled up the whole time.

But in retrospect, it was a HUGE dick move, and I wish now that I hadn't done it. It would be kinda cool to look back on that stuff and see what happened back then. It's kinda part of Q2 history and the on-going story of Tastyspleen and now no one will have any record of it.

Well, at least there is anecdotal evidence from the executor of said offense in this thread for said history.  If that counts.   

And BTW, I think I was just tired as fuck the other night and didn't read krenz' posts clearly enough.  I'm surprised he wants to resort to threats over not getting his way with something.  In fact, he's stupid as hell in general.  If he just wanted all his posts deleted, he could've done that (with his script) and not worried about letting anyone know about it; probably would've gone unnoticed (because who would've given a fuck).  But from the sounds of things, he was trying to post ways to hack the entire forum and do mass deletes (if I'm understanding correctly), and holy shit he needs to never be here again if that's true.  I've seen him be cool when we'd play at ACMEctf and other places - never would've thought he'd be an asshole on this level, though.  That's just how it goes, I guess.
