Well they realized that after it started becoming a cash-cow and a big business, which is why they've done all they can to force it to be a relevant part of peoples lives. Most other sites on the internet just ASSUME you already have a facebook acct that you can link with them, and other sites and various "things" in daily life actually REQUIRE that you have a Facebook acct. They've done all they can to make themselves "necessary".

Apparently its investors have growing doubts bout the sustainability of Facebook and its current business model since its over-valued stocks had been on on constant downward slide.
SOme advertisers realized that too.

Unless Facebook starts charging people and other companies to access its service or selling users data then idk whats next.

IIRC, Facebook already got in some deep shit just recently over selling user data to companies without the consent of its users.  Not sure how well that will fly now that they already were shitty (even if they ask voluntarily).

In general, fuck Facebook.  I went on a job interview a couple years ago that asked if I used Facebook, and when I said no, they asked if I would be willing to get one.  I asked why, they said because it's a job requirement!  Needless to say, I got up and left.  I'm not going to waste my time on a job that has an idiotic requirement like that.  Why would I need a FB account for some bullshit job?  Sounds like a way for them to fuck me over with my personal life.

The worst thing about FB isn't just YOUR account, though.  It's everyone else's that irks me.  You can be at a party drinking, smoking joints, and some retard snaps a photo of you without you even realizing it, posts it to their account, and some-fucking-how it gets to your boss, and he fires you.  That's what I truly fear, since I'm not on FB.  It's the rouge entity issue.  :/

Who knows, I think most major portals still sells data. Not in the form of personal but more on stats.

IMHO Facebook needs to diversify its business. Take a look at Google, aside from their search portal, they have other interests like their appliance, OS, hardware etc.

Like I said, in these days, things happens so fast. Whats in today could be history tomorrow (lol Microsoft).
