[Apr Q2] "R_Init: Could not set resolution!" error
« on: March 02, 2006, 06:08:28 AM »
At the moment im trying Apr Q2. But im getting a error called "R_Init: Could not set resolution!".
Does somebody know a solution for this error ? I running windows 95 :

System :
Microsoft Windows 95
4.01.0970 C
IE 5 5.00.2919.6307

I have installed all the updates from windows update.

Software versions :
Direct X 8.0a
Newest Dcom (for win95) installed
Newest VB Runtime files installed

quake2.exe works perfect.
nocheat.exe works perfect.
(The quake 2 no cheat mod
url: bryceinc.com/index.php?main=NoCheat&sub=Downloads&type=dl )

Aprq2  gives a "R_init: Could not set resolution!" error.
(quake 2 mod url: apprime.0wns.org/q2/)

r1q2 gives a "kernel32.dll:GetFileAttributesExa" error.

Well done, an AprQ2 user, like a few of us on here, I fully think its a very good and fast client for me, with a lower spec pc, etc, anyway, r_init is (afaik) a resoloution error, likely, the resoloution is too high for your card to manage in aprq2, and seeing as you cant get into apr to switch it back, I think you'll have to do it in the config, however, im not sure if its possible or not, it should be, when I had that problem, I just deleted my config and started afresh in standard 320/400 whatever software, and changed to my openGL from there. hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I have solved the windows 95 pc problem by deleting the configs and run Aprq2 in software video driver mode (run Aq2sw.exe, not Aq2.exe). It works perfect. At home im using Aprq2 on a xp pc with no problems.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
