Pink Flamingos is probably one of the most horrific movies you could ever watch, and it's not even a horror movie.

That's one of the "least" WTF moments from the film. There's a part where someone sends them a piece of shit in a box in the mail. Then theres the part where Divine (who is a tranny, duh) sucks a dick, and the dude who's dick he/she is sucking is supposed to be his/her son (if I remember correctly). Yes, it actually shows it in detail, I would recommend looking away during that part. Then there's the infamous final scene where Divine picks up real dog shit off the sidewalk and starts eating it. That movie left me scarred for life. John Waters is one truly weird and demented dude.

If only someone had warned me before I did. I saw some thing about John Waters (the director of the movie) on TV and it mentioned that movie and the part about Divine eating dog shit, so I figured I'd watch it... but no one mentioned jack shit about a gay tranny blowjob. I typically enjoy "bad" movies. Shit like The Toxic Avenger series and Class of Nukem High (pretty much anything else by Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz of Troma Films), crappy 70's sexploitation films, cheesy low budget sorority slashers, etc etc. But... Pink Flamingos is in a WHOLE DIFFERENT category of "bad".

Well you gotta look at it this way: back in 1972, other than hardcore porn, movies were still pretty conservative even when the movie itself was about a decidedly "adult" topic. This movie was so god damned strange and off the wall and shocking that of course it would stand out against the rest of the movies of the day. I wouldn't say it's a "good" movie at all, and anyone who would is a complete moron. But it's... interesting. If horror movies and thrillers and even something like the Faces of Death tapes don't shock you... this probably will. I think that's why it's become a cult classic, because it's so god damned weird and shocking that it's impossible to forget it.
