Metallica + Lou Reed = SUCK

My hypothesis:

I'm finally convinced that Metallica made enough money on the black album that they could've retired, never played one more note of another song, never played one more show, never sold one more t-shirt, and could've lived like opulent egyptian pharaohs for the rest of their lives...

...but they figured it would be a lot more fun to spend the next 15-20 years doing everything they could to piss off their huge fan base. Probably what happened was James bet Lars that he could completely trash the band, kill it's reputation, and lose ALL of their fans within 5 years. Lars has already won the bet a few times now, but James Hetfield is so stupid that he keeps renewing the bet saying, "Okay, double or nothing, another five years we have no fans."
