i had 60 mb connection, i lowered it to 30 mb some months ago to save money, nothing changed in q2.
i think for the ping, the upload speed is more important, im not sure.

A DSL connection at 2Mbps is overkill for Quake2. Nevermind the 15 and 30Mbps connections. The Quake2 protocol was invented when the typical user had a 56kbps modem for internet connection and 200ms was a good ping. Quake2 typically flows about 20kbps at maximum animation and prediction so yes, 15Mbps is overkill. Whether you are wasting money or not depends on how much porn and music you like to download.
