I've never had any interest in lithium because of the hook and everyone jumpin around like monkeys...just my opinion though :wink:

Regarding lithium... (And I want to stress this is just my opinion as a player here, not some gameplay neutring admin )

I'm not personally a hook fan, as it seems to destroy the flow of good maps.  But mainly the grand element of torture for me on lithium servers seems to be that strafe/circle jumping doesn work, and often other trick box jumps don't work!!  So whenever I've tried a lithium server I've exited in great haste a few min. later, because circle jumping and box jumps are some of my fav. aspects of quake !!!!


Anyway just an opinion...

of course, it does have an "offhand" hook .... you guys prob wouldent like that...... but I swear its a blast....you play em on singleplayer/dm maps, as well as ctf maps ..........  hehehehe, perhaps it just wishful thinking

I like ctf and hook...BUT I dont like it when someone uses the hook as a third appendige...hook should be used[in my opinion] to get to high places or to find ppls and not to engage them with it unless thats the only thing you have ...otherwise in battle it should only be used for escape or chase not to "outhook" another player.I hope that makes sense

I like the hook in ctf...it fits but in a deathmatch or rail arena...to me it useless. At one point i got good with it but even then its just not that fun.

Hook + CTF = Sweet
Hook + DM  = Blah!!

there is an obvious answer to your admin dilemma.  get more admins.  if u cant cover 2 servers with your current number of admins, get more.  it is not hard to find trustworthy people to patrol servers.  i myself have had rcons at several servers (not that im asking for yours).  many other >FAS> clan allies (EMR/4u2/JJE/etc) share admin duties at servers such as kansasnet and QuakeIIDM, these people can maintain servers without abusing power.  all u have to do is find someone who can agree to ur set of rules and follow them, this isnt too tough.

as far as the type of server....perhaps u should take a look at mine, i run a tourney server with voteable mods, theres ctc (capture the chicken), dm, railonly, team (aka gx), and ra2...these mods are all voteable from one server, i find this very elastic in a democratic fashion.  u can also vote hook/ runes - allthe bells and whistles...imho, the bfg sucks, quad sucks, invul sucks, power shield sucks, everything else is great.  as far as maps go (let the ranting commence) imho the single player maps ar exactly for that - single players, there are too many dead ends, they are generally too large and do not promote the fast paced carnage that we all seek, however they do promote excellent hiding spots for campers (aka llamas).  with that said there are the dm maps (god bless them) which promote faster paced games (without armor they are ridiculously fast) and a plethora of custom maps to choose from. hope this helps...oh and heres an ip for my server (the bandwidth is about 1/10 normal right now, im having a new line put in in a few days)  68.10.184.212:27911

hey host or anyone else try to host or download those mission packs/expansions and host a server

the expansions give you more missions a new multiplayer mode "tag"

the time bombs......new male models and new weapons like phalnax cannon

maybe you can host a server for every mod or a server side mode
