Q2 CLIENTS

my ping always sucks its like 100-200. when it is around 30-80 i whoop serious ass and its sweet. But i have cable modem, and im not getting a bad connection, somone said somthing about getting a client for q2? i have a mac btw.

Get a good computer all clients work with good computers. I have p2 computer and more lag and ping in quake than in new computer.

It is my personal opinion that r1q2 and aprq2 are the fastest clients.

However i know of no clients for the mac at all.   Maybe i'll have time to research that later today.

I am trying out this r1ch mac client - though basically untested or supported, it is working well for me so far - ty to gator for finding it for me!

i am not sure of hte accuracy of my statement, but i believe aprq2 is r1q2 based.

And ANYONE will benefit from using r1q2.  It has an outstanding written code that allows for lightning fast map downloads, and i believe smoother play altogether.  In my opinion, if it doesnt drop your ping, it will at least make it FEEL that way.  More then you could say for any other client out there.

Ive never notied a difference, i just use the normal 3.21 client that has been out for years. i dont really like the newer ones at all.

about your connection though, cable can become saturated pretty quick depending on how many people you have in your neighborhood that are leeching off it on the same node. Or if your running it via wireless or if you have other machines which might be dl stuff in the backgroud....or maybe your computer is doing stuff in the background that your not aware of.

but just do a trace to the server and montior it for a bit you might wanna use some 3rd party clients to do so like neotrace or whatever it will show you ,your path and the latency for each hop you pass through. Sometimes just one router out there can screw up your whole game, it could be lagged/saturated and slowing you down even thoguh your ping looks good.

I do beleive it is based on the protocol 35 of r1ch's r1q2, to me it feels just the same as R1Q2, but graphically nicer (and gives me some more fps!)
