Which do you like better and why?
I'm going to go with Windows.
1) the interface is made for humans, and things that are routine are made easy. For example upgrading the kernel in Linux and then adding a storage driver module, seemed kind of like working on an alien space ship, while with Windows you see a pretty screen that says pick driver from a USB stick.
Things I like about Linux:
On some distributions I type netstat -an and I see no services running by default
flexibility
fundamental design (not that I know much about this, but I"ve read about some differences in interaction with the hardware for a program and how updates to the low level functions work), as well Windows has a lot of advanced functionality like serialized interprocess communication?

it really depends.
For a desktop and gaming MS wins by a lightyear.
Unix and unixlike OS's are not for the average users.
For servers and dedicated machines, linux gets my thumbs up (for the $). But sometimes MS servers have and advantage.

only reason i use winXP these days is gaming :/
linux just has a better set up... run debian stable and you might have a little out dated repo package list (about 6 months it seems) but youll have a completely rock solid system thats honestly hard to fubar
the reasons i like linux are just a bunch of small things that tend to pile up, id rather do half the stuff i do on my computer through a CLI just because its more efficient organized and faster... the administrative tasks are much simpler too, handling permissions, groups, and users and all that stuff is a breeze if you know what your doing :/ even if you know what your doing in windows its just flat out annoying because they are buried in GUI menus... even simple things like connecting to a wireless network have given me way too much trouble in windows when it worked just fine in linux (all be it a little more complicated than your average user would go about it seeing as i was in backtrack)
some people on here think i dont know linux... i just dont know how to make linux run my games
as far as a linux user goes i do just fine, passed my cert tests not too long ago for linux+, lpic-1 and novell cla, but no one knows everything and if you insult me for my lack of knowledge you really dont know anything
windows does have some advantages to itself though, i do like the win7 gui for my laptop, and xp (with some tweaking) doesnt run too bad while still looking ok (classic theme custom color set up)... but really i mostly just use windows for gaming :/ anything else id rather rock linux... til i can spend the time figuring out how to make wine my bitch ill continue to dual boot
TL;DR my vote is for linux, but still use windows for gaming
EDIT: favorite linux distro is debian
some times loving or hating linux just depends on your experience, and what distro you used...

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
