Has anyone tried to do  opentdm chase demo recam

chased player totally disappeared from demo

funny part is if u left cl_gun 1

Something to do with how r1ch did the chasecam...

It uses a second player entity, and gives it an 'invisible' skin. (skin null)
Think cl_noskins 1 fixed that in the past, but havn't noticed it doing anything as of late.

He may of changed how it worked,  dunno.

Could try r1ch's forums,  IRC, or even wait here for a response.
He is the one who coded the mod.

Would suck if you were not able to recam stuff anymore with a player you are chasing in the view.

"undocumented" feature for r1q2.  If you press and hold the shift key in demo playback you have freelook  :D

OpenTDM resets modelindex of the entity being chased to 0. You can try to fix it by changing modelindex back to 255.

Changing modelindex to 255 on entity 13 worked fine for me with that demo, in a sense that player entity is now visible. I didn't use keygrip though, but LMPC and a text editor. Here's the result.

worked (did it for years in keygrip to hide players model/weapon in chase battle/tourney demos   :-[ )
i guess im little rusty  ;)
and actually didn't think r1ch used simple solution to hide player model and still leave visible weapon so u could treat chase demos in opentdm like pov demos in movies

What's the command line to ouput a text file from a dm2 binary in lmpc? and how do you know what entitys are assigned to what players?

To convert between binary and text formats one can use these commands:

lmpc --game QUAKE2 --to-txt example.dm2 example.txt
lmpc --game QUAKE2 --to-bin example.txt example.dm2

When converting from binary to text LMPC shows "read error" message for some reason, but it appears to be harmless (apparently it doesn't handle end-of-demo packet well?).

To know which entity is assigned to what player, one needs to look up playerskin number by looking at configstrings packet (LMPC inserts handy comments to ease this task). Relative playerskin number is equal to client slot number on the server, and client entity number is always client slot number plus one.

For example, in that demo I got:

}

Relative playerskin number is 12, therefore entity number is 13.

? and ? together = make walls clear (for debugging)
? make everyone take a screenshot and d/l into your q2 folder
