anticheat

im on tal3nts quake 2, I put all the r1q2 files into the quake 2 folder and started it up. i connected to tourney4 and it said loading anticheat, then says that i need anticheat. but i already have it. so what do i do?

download the anticheat.dll from http://www.antiche.at

http://antiche.at/files/anticheat.zip

unzip that into the quake 2 folder, and when you try to connect with r1q2 on t4 for the first time, alt-tab out of your quake 2 and make sure the file is still where you put it.

some crappier antivirus programs may block or try to delete it.

avg has taken a quality dive anyway might as well switch to somethin like avast or avira

just add it to exceptions in your antivirus

when i was running avg it was fucked with that anyway, wouldnt pick it up on the active scan... but every time it ran a full system scan it would steal all 4 anticheat.dll's out of my dif quake2 folders annoying shit to go into the virus vault and restore em every time...

switched to avast, added anticheat as an exception first thing, and its never given me even a single problem

The newest version of AVG Free seemed a little buggy to me. It worked for a day or two, and then it refused to update properly, and thus refused to continue protecting me until it DID update properly. If you can spare the cash, I'd always recommend using a paid version of an anti-virus with tech support in case shit like that ever happens. Usually the paid versions have a few nifty added features so that you might not have to use multiple security programs.
