AV's and firewalls

Anyone recommend an antivirus and firewall that won't interfere with q2? i currently use avira and zone alarm basic (also just tried comodo), but i find i have to switch avira off while playing q2 otherwise i lag using ac, i switched my firewall off too and it makes a bit of a difference too, fealt alot smoother, but i should be able to play with protection

AVG 9 w/ firewall.

Even though I have the directories excluded from scans it still removed anticheat.dll.

I'm using AVG 2011 and have no problems with anticheat, I didn't have problems with previous versions of AVG either. But excluding it from scans isn't enough; you have to go to the 'Resident Shield' section in the main screen and click 'manage exceptions' to make an exception for the entire Quake2 root folder (not just the .dll)

ive recently switched to avast from avg really liking it, and it hasnt given me any problems with anticheat, just added it to exceptions so it wouldnt delete them on a full scan just in case
