I was wondering about what models and skins the server has on it.Maybe someone can put up a list here so people can hunt them down at polycount or possibly a link through here.Been staring at too many Bald Men lately...

I'm hoping that whoever wants to use this particular model realizes that it comes in a variety of colors,and NOT JUST GREEN.Maybe the server might take up unique skins for the regulars... I'd like to put that avatar face on my model

I made a Quake 2 .EXE and .DLL that has a few features that I cant live without anymore.
I will list the +positive and -negative features.

+loads up random models/skins for anyone wearing a model/skin that
you dont have.  if you delete all the builtin skins (dont delete the grunt skin, cuz q2 makes disconnecting players switch to that before they are fully out of the game) and any other trashy skins that you hate (like the numerous variations on all black), then you never have to see any of the builtin skins (cept POSSIBLY the grunt every blue moon, depending on how many models you have installed).  also, dont delete your ctf skins if you play team game mods.  it will revert to male/ctf_b or whatever if its there so you can still play team games that use those naming conventions

+obviously its nice to see all those models you have gone thru pains to download and install, and yet nobody seems to use.  but the BEST part of this feature is that (depending upon how many models you have installed) every1 is usually TOTALLY UNIQUE in appearance, so you can adjust your play style to different players!  this more than makes up for the loading delay drawback listed below, IMO.  if there are more than 1 of any particular model/skin, just quit and run Q2 again, and they will probably be all unique.  may fix this in the future to make SURE thats always the case

+makes all onscreen text have a black shadow underneath it so its readable on light gray, white, and light green backgrounds

+makes the console display text down the whole screen AND removes the background picture, so that the background is fullscreen 3D graphics

+enables VWEP (visible weapons) for ALL MODELS.  yes, the raptor, the cow, the FUN guy, whatever.  for models such as spiff or tigger that have custom vweps, i suggest deleting the weapon models out of their directories, and then they will use the regular id weapons, so you can actually know what they are using

-whenever a new player joins the game, it makes your game skip as the model loads

-even tho the fullscreen text is fully readable, you have to strain a little bit on certain areas of the screen.  its not as clear to read as with a solid backgroun

-tells you the wrong original model names in the console as its changing them.  would be easy to fix if i wasnt so lazy  

-its not clear who is teaming by wearing the same model/skins (unless they are using skins that you have installed, such as ctf skins or whatever), as they will all appear different.  i MAY fix this to make teaming people all have the same randomly selected team model


if anyone actually uses this i may look into pre-caching models so that you wont have an stutters in your gameplay.

lol, drat...  you know what I'm using...  I wonder what that looks like when megaman has a gun with a hand as a gun...
