Maps crash/unable to load Vanilla maps

 Well the title says it all. I recently deleted my q2 folder and downloaded the q2 kicker. I have been unable to load any of the stock Vanilla maps. Not just on Vanilla but anytime a Stock map is loaded i get a error saying unable to load map ETC. I looked around my map folders and do not have any of them downloaded that i can find. So the question is WTF do i do? Thanks for any help that is given

the single player maps aren't included with the q2 kicker.

technically they are not supposed to be distributed since they are copyrighted content that was only available to people who purchased the full version of q2.

there are ways around it, but the easiest and probably the only legal way is to reinstall from the CD, then unzip the q2 kicker over top of that installation.

   Bummer I dont have the original CD to the game. I lost it years ago. HMMMMMMM

Backup before you go and delete your precious quake2 folder!! Had the same problem once and luckily found these two zip files, one with the SP maps and the other with the sounds.
Extract everything to quake2/baseq2/..  and you should be able to connect to Vanilla.

q2kicker includes its own pak0.pak from the demo, if you just over write everything then it would just put you back to where you started would have to make sure you dont replace any of the pak files from the cd install

Luckily for me, even I dont have the Q2 cd, I was able to autodownload the maps when it was still available before at vanilla .
If you wish there are some servers outside of TS network that allow auto downloads of single player maps. search at q2servers.com.

Q2 CD's are for sale all over the net for next to nothing..... easy to find @ amazon, ecrater,  etc.
