Help! Can't get Quake 2 to run in Fullscreen

I had been running quake 2 in fullscreen all the time but in the last few days i had been changing it to a smaller window to keep up with the IM chats...now I can't get it to stay in full screen at all.  i have tried all of the video modes and i have even tried modifying the config file...anyone know what to do??

Choosing fullscreen in the vid menu doesn't do it?

no, i have tried all the different video modes and selected full screen in all of them and nothing.  when i pull up the console it says 'full screen not available in this mode'...i don't know what mode it is talking about....

i am going to re-install later on today to see if that helps....

thanks for the reply, it seems as though a simple restart of the pc worked just fine...
