This is driving me crazy!!!

Can anyone explain why this models skin looks fine untill Q2 renders it. Then some of the red is black. Im guessing its a palette issue but I tried replacing it to no effect.
Please help me before I lose the will to live

I found that if I don't have a black pixel in the upper-left most part of a player model's skin I get those results.
