I play on a laptop (only computer I've got).It has 1.7 GHz CPU (just fast enough to get the required 50-60 FPS at 920x760 that I need to play well). It has no graphics processor (Intel 945 mobile doesn't count). Turn off dynamic lights (set gl_dynamic "0") or it will get 2-3 FPS.It has a 15-inch display (1280x800 widescreen). The result is that I have to run in windowed mode or everything gets all skewed and blurry.NONE of this affects my ability to play Quake II.So I think that really any laptop made nowadays should be good.
Re: Thoughts on a laptop?
set gl_mode "5"
7. i think windows 7 will be the best choice for a higher end laptop right now cause its really either that or vista and vista sucks (and yes i will probably duel boot whatever with linux)

take like a grand or so and build your own, best way to do it...you get the maximum accessories with minimal pain to your wallet.
