Quadz actually changed the timelimit for that particular map in mutant to last 15 min. so that all of the changes can be seen.

WhirlingDervish has a giant deathmatch map that has a wellplaced laser in the middle to hit people bunnyhopping down one of the central paths. It also has an intersting laser fence blocking items in an oustide area. Wish i remembered the name. I want to say its wddm6. Dervish?
 


I honestly think that yendor's Yggdrasil should also count as awesome.

marics108 is the best looking q2 map ever made IMO

shizz1 is a pretty incredible rail map



A few more of mine that function in unusual ways are rota_nn, rotachapel, pwpipes1, pwcaves2, and tanks. Thanks is an interesting one that really only appeals to a certain crowd. Everyone starts in 1 of 8 rooms that contain power armor, red armor, and megahealth or a 9th room that contains yellow armor and a quad. So it's a collection of overpowered players duking it out with soo much health and armor that it takes 5+ rail shots per kill. Directly out of the gate, I'm pretty sure that you'll survive a direct BFG hit.
