Little segment about George Burns

In later years (George) Burns admitted that, following an argument over a pricey silver table centerpiece (Gracie) Allen wanted, he had a very brief affair with a Las Vegas showgirl. Stricken by guilt, he phoned Jack Benny and told him about the indiscretion. However, Allen overheard the conversation and Burns quietly bought the expensive centerpiece and nothing more was said. Years later, he discovered that Allen had told one of her friends about the episode finishing with "You know, I really wish George would cheat on me again. I could use a new centerpiece."

Another interesting note:
Burns would always end the show with "Say goodnight, Gracie" to which Allen simply replied "Goodnight." She never said "Goodnight, Gracie," as legend has it. (This "false memory" may be caused by the Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In ending: "Say goodnight, Dick." "Goodnight, Dick!") Burns was once asked this question and said it would've been a funny line. Asked why he didn't do it, Burns replied, "Incredibly enough, no one ever thought of it."

I remember back in the 80s when "60 Minutes" did a show with him. And he mentioned his one "lapse" and how much he regretted it. He and Gracie were soulmates. After she passed away he visited her grave site often (mausoleum I think). George lived to the age of 100 plus a few weeks.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
