Hi =)  I don't think I've touched Quake 2 in at least 1 1/2 years, but I'm getting the itch again, and ready to jump back in, BANZAI!!!  I hope my advanced age won't have slowed me down too much.

I've lost all my files though, or at least my .PAK files.  Can anybody recommend a good pak that is low on eye candy, and high on useful stuff, like high visibility skins, upgraded sounds, the grenade countdown timer, wallha.. er, crosshairs, or anything else that is generally considered desirable =)  Actually, I don't mind a little eye candy, if it's hard to avoid that with newer paks.  It's definitely not a requirement for me to have fun though =)

Also, is R1Q2 still somewhat regularly updated, and the typically used client?

R1Q2 and APRQ2 are the most used, r1q2 reg updated apr not but doesen't need to be. as for paks, it's totally preference. I think adampaks are FANTASTIC but might not be for you! check out RealistiCs pak archive, you can access it by clicking reals link on the player hosted sites above.

r1q2 works great and its one of the most solid clients and as far as a pak gos, i suggest you just make your own... using some one elses pak is like wearing some one elses underwear imo... just way to fuckin weird >_> but if you would really like something nice to start back into quake2 with, at the top of all the tastyspleen sites theres a link that says get q2, that takes you to the quake2 kicker that jehar put together has some custom content, not much, comes with bright skins you just have to put into baseq2 and such, it uses aprq2 which is pretty good, and its great for getting started

also if you get things up and running by tonight at 9pm EST, and use irc, just #tastycast on irc.globalgamers.net, or you can use the embedded irc client on tastyspleen.tv under the live video stuff you can sign up for the king of the hill duel event held every friday jehar runs it, its all open to the comunity and he puts newer players in the front of the line so you could get some duel time in casted live its kinda fun, just let jehar know your new if you can get up and running by then good way to start your time back in quake2

EDIT: also, if you dont wanna play in the event or whatever it will be casted live on tastyspleen.tv incase you want to watch

Hey Gator! =)  Wanna hear the craziest thing... I was living in Port Charlotte (with ex) from late November of '08 til early April of '09.  I had always intended on contacting you while I was there, when I actually thought I was going to be there indefinitely, but never did.  Are you still in that area?  I feel bad that I never made the effort.

Sweet, it's good to hear that Daf is still around.  I don't even remember the last time I had any contact with any of my old clanmates.  Probably at least a year.  I got tied up with moving down to PC, ex stuff happening, moving back to Orlando and not having my own computer, then getting a job, getting my PC set back up, playing lots of OTHER games, and now finally missing Q2 again =)

It's good to be back! (or will be very soon!)

Yeah, i am still here.  Would have been great to have gotten together, but that can still happen anytime anyone wants to make it happen.  Mangy Mutt is no longer in Orlando.  i think he has moved to West Palm Beach, but nobody has really heard from him as far as i can tell.  i think Dahang is still in Orlando. 

Chmod/Rich comes and goes from q2 and #btf, etc.  He has currently been missing for a few weeks, and i lost his # when my CrackBerry crashed.  i should drive by his house this weekend i think.

Always feel welcome to contact me at anytime to do something down here, or i am always willing to go visit.  i have a long time best friend in Orlando, but never take the time to visit him there.  So that last statement is proof of understanding about you being down here and not doing what you intended in the back of your mind.

Oh, what's the best free server browser now?  I used to use All-Seeing Eye, but I'm pretty sure support for it is pretty much nil at this point.

Oh, what about mouserate modifier programs, that increase the polling/refresh/hz rate of USB devices?  I remember that was kinda important.  I suppose I could just google that stuff.

i just use Q2's default server browser.

i have the ip for DM, Vanilla, Mutant, and Railz in it leaving like 8 empty spots.  That is all i need.
