Man, what a crazy couple of years this has been. Since starting up a little shoutcast server on quadz' provided space, the community has been involved in the coverage of quakeworld, urban terror, warsow, doom, quake ii... and that's the short list. There have been enough people willing to see the potential of a multi-game, community-run broadcasting group, and the result has been better hardware, more polished content, and a wider variety of games. I really can't thank all of the supporters, both materially and motivationally, enough.

The question at this point, however, is how to keep growing without turning into something that we'd all hate. I've learned through other broadcasting projects that sticking to the community is something that takes a lot of work, and it's too easy to fall into the trap of running towards the spotlight all the time.

I've attempted to expand the staff before, to limited success. Part of the issue is that TS.tv does so much that it's difficult to take on a particular role and expect to stay on top of everything. So, I've decided to approach staffing from another angle:

per-game representatives.

I want to stress that this is not in any way going to stub the toes of all of the people who come to us to discuss events. Simply put, I just want to have people who are willing to act as extra eyes and ears for the community, and relay that info. I'm hoping that this will allow people to go from "what the hell am I supposed to do" to something more like "yeah, that's me!".

Responsibilities would include keeping an eye on events from your respective areas (not like you don't do that already!), attending weekly meetings, and providing information so that events can be scheduled.

I've been putting a lot of thought into this, and I really should be the one to step up and do q2. I've been hiding back in the shadows and not helping out with the cast like I should. Thoughts?
