Hey Punk,

Are you getting the supercharged model? Those can get up and move--about 7 seconds for 0-60, which is pretty damned quick for a 1.6. Hope you enjoy it. Don't expect to haul any friends around with that back seat, though--but if you had a pickup before this, you're probably used to that, eh?

On the plus side
Low, wide stance should make it great for zipping around town and short trips on the backroads. Extremely fun to drive for short distances. Fuel mileage good. Chick magnet.

Minus (speaking for myself of course)
Everything that makes it such a great city car, works against it in all day travel situations.
Could get a little rough with the short suspension, fast steering, and cramped quarters. As the condition of the road deteriorates, the fatigue factor goes up. Driving long distance in these type of cars always left me wore out at the end of the day. I need my rolling couch for that.

Yes, I'm getting the Mini Cooper S (S for supercharged)

Here are my specs

'06 Mini Cooper S
1.6L SC 4 cyl, like 168 HP @ 6000 RPM, and 162 lb/ft torgue @ 4000 IIRC, light car, like 2600 lbs approx, so pretty nice power #'s for it's weight.  Can probably spend less than $2k on it, in aftermarket stuff including labor, and push it a good bit over 200hp.  Should run in the mid to low 14's in the 1/4 mile I'm guessing then?  maybe anyway, I believe it runs low low 15's stock.
6 Speed Manual Trans
Dark Silver exterior, Silver roof/mirrors
Sport pack, which adds Xenon headlamps, 17" rims, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), front fog lamps
Limited Slip Differential (LSD)
Rear Fog Lamp
Auto A/C
Multi-Function Steering Wheel (MFSW), radio & cruise controls on wheel

Since it's supercharged, there are a number of relatively low cost mods you can add to it for fairly significant increases in power, increasing the SC boost.

Anyways, if all goes well, I'll have it early November I hope.

At first glance I thought it might have meant you were getting a Mini Cooper too, on the 14th of November.  But I assume you mean you'll be showing up at Rob's house on that day for the LAN?  Hopefully I'll see you there again, in my new car if all goes well.  I'm looking forward to it =)
