I never really could get into these guys that much. They never had a solid timing and groove, always relying on such weird alternating time scales that never keep a steady solid rhythm too long. They're definitely interesting and talented out the wazoo, just really hard for most folks to get into. Kinda like Dillinger Escape Plan. It takes listening to the album several times to be able to anticipate the next step in each song and truly appreciate the overall piece.
I've listened to very little Meshuggah, but this one seems to have a little more of a traditional rhythmic backbone and song structure to it. I wonder if they've recently been working with a new producer.

i checked out this cd when it came out(obzen), and then gave the whole album another listen a month or 2 ago. It's my favorite meshuggah cd, but I'm also not a huge fan of them so not saying a whole lot. They are interesting to listen to, it's basically sweden's take on industrial-ish death metal, and sweden's take on any form of metal is usually upper tier. I still can't get into the vast majority of meshuggah's stuff though. Right when I think i'm getting into the song, I'm like... does this chord progression / drum beat ever slow down or switch up from this rhythm?? Not all are like that though

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
