Neat tactic

Trapping someone in an area with a well placed trap,  like blocking a hallway.

Then after a short wait, dropping a second trap just around the corner they will turn to get out of there.


Someone left today after I did that,   the second one was quad :)

Exactly the kind of lame ass stuff that also makes me disconnect from Xatrix.  Let's hope this person comes back.

So get me in a corridor....I wait 30 seconds for it to expire...zzzzzzzzzzz......then as soon as I get free...another one!   Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz - I generally just let myself get fragged by them to relieve the monotony - gg not.

One hard to get trap, maybe two on a big map are enough.  Clever jump required to get it or in a very exposed place where you'll probably get fragged.

Traps should be the exception, not the rule.  I think you should not be able to hold more than one.

Xatrix dm just has traps lying all over the place - There are too many noob trap whores basing their whole game around these.

Since shooting the traps didn't work, how about lowering the length of time the traps are active...10 seconds seems reasonable to me.  Or limit their damage to 100 or something.

How about a mymap option (-traps) to balance out the ridiculous +ia traps situations that come up?

Line by line rebuttal to Toxic



If traps make you disconnect from Xatrix,  then it is probably the right decision not to connect there in the first place.

The point of the second one is to be a surprise,  surprise corner traps usually don't leave enough time to fight them,
you just get sucked in anyhow.

The map I did this on did require a clever jump to get one trap,  the other usually caused damage to get.

You are able to hold five traps, doesn't seem excessive to me.  I don't usually get that many,  too many people picking them up.

If people basing their game on traps bugs ya,  see line 1

I like the idea of changing their damage,  or maybe the amount of time they can hold you,  or working out the kinks in
shootable traps.  BUT,  I'll live if they stay the same.

vanilla/mutant has -traps all the time,  and even if someone does do +ia on xatrix or xrazy,  I'm pretty sure that traps does not get included in that.
Quadz set that up specifically after ia trap abuse,  although a trap forest sounds kinda funny.



When I hit up xatrix I almost never use traps,  I like finding rail :)  or to have fun I might use ripper the whole game.
If I do decide to use a trap I have picked up, I have to MANUALLY enter 'use trap' in the console.  I don't even have a bind for it.
Off subject,  but it's the same thing for bfg,  just don't have it bound.
