I thought this was really nice.  Just open up putty click the cygwin radio button, and for host enter in "-".  Now you've got a nice terminal to a bash shell. 

The only issues I think are spaces in filenames (not positive on what issues this causes), and getting the utilities.  You have to run the cygwin setup program, compile, or download a binary.  So if you want: netcat,dig,tee,sed, etc etc you can't just use apt-get or pkg-add or whatever. 

Still almost making the Windows box nice : )

haha yeah that's usually the first thing I do at a new job .

put localhost in the browser for a proxy, and then tunnel that traffic sent to localhost through the tunnel, and at the other end at the ssh server I run a proxy.

Exactly.

Not like I'm fooling anyone... I'm the system administrator here... but it's cool to look up my IP in our activity logger and see I have 2 minutes of browsing time each month. :p

Any of you suckers not allowed to watch youtube at work should do the same. I send just about everything I can through my tunnel... aim, mirc, so on...

I'm one of them suckers. Can i get a play by play on how to do it? I have a lot of desk time at my job, most of which is me pretending to be busy. Youtube would certainly help the day go by.

You can replace the unix utilities with windows one, for example swap the unix proxy for a windows proxy, it's the same thing.  This should work with any application where you can enter a proxy server, otherwise you will need something like this:

Your traffic can be analyzed, so you probably want to run things on a non-standard port (don't run the proxy on port 80 if you can), and people may be able to measure your bandwidth and tie that to your pc.    All in all it's pretty stealthy though..
