Adding More Monsters into Q2 Single Player

Hi,

I've had an idea for a mod. Basically it would just let you play through Quake 2 in single-player as usual, but there would be way more enemies in the maps. Because the game is so old and computers are so much more powerful now, you could put in hordes of monsters all over the place, and it would still be playable.

I heard ages ago that it's possible to add in entities to the bsp map files, but I don't know how you do it. Does anyone know if/ how it would be possible to do something like this?

I don't want to change anything else, just add in extra monsters.

That's the main feature of coopordie mod, however there are also lots of extras as well. It would be pretty simple to make a mod that just randomly spawns more, or different, monsters in the place of the existing ones. It also would be pretty cool to just make new .ent files in order to add more monsters to make their placement more intelligent and more of a challenge.

Once again, coopordie is actually a combination of all those ideas.

If you want to make the game more challenging there are a few ways to do so:
Play through with only 50 Grenades and a Grenade Launcher per level.
Play through with only regular shotgun with infinite ammo.
Play through by only killing monsters by making them fight with each other. (except in the few places in which killing a monster is necessary to continue the level.)

I got it by choosing the "Mark Shan's site" one from the downloads.

Could someone verify that the game86.dll from that map is identical to the xatrix one? From the readme, that's exactly how it sounds. I'm on linux, and it'd be nifty if I could just plop the maps into the xatrix folder instead.

Thanks for the link to "Return to Hell." I hadn't ever come across that before, and I'm really enjoying the play.
