Also it is really unfair to just have a high-school diploma and make 60,000 a year, when I have to work through college, basically building debt, and not make that when I graduate. [I plan on getting a doctorate in Computer Engineering, if anyone has base salary information for that please provide it for future reference.]

You have the same opportunity to fill that job as anyone else. You choose not to. If money is your concern, you know ahead of time you can make $60K without a college diploma, why not take one of those jobs? On the other, if you're going in to CS because you genuinely enjoy the subject, what does it matter what other people in other trades are being paid?
I define unfair as having better credentials and working harder than someone else, yet they get paid at a similar rate as me.
