Updating R1Q2

I recently updated my R1Q2 file. I joined a tastypleen server and it told me "Server reports lower R1Q2 protocol number" . The server admin needs to update their server!" ever since i updated the R1Q2Updater.exe file when i play Quake II i get a frame rate rate drop quite regularly, which makes me lag for about 5 secs. I didn't have this problem before i updated the file can anyone    Does the tastyspleen admin need to update???

I keep my r1q2 updated,  do it every time I play.

The server admin needs to update has been there for a bit,  I havn't noticed anything odd....
