Yeah, I've tried that method before too. I figured since I really don't enjoy spitting that nasty shit that it would help ween me off of nicotine... not so. Unless maybe you're lipping those Skoal Bandit pouches 1 at a time, you're actually getting MORE nicotine than any full flavored menthol cigarette... even with the filter ripped off. At one time I was smoking 2 to 3 packs of Lucky Strike nonfilters a day, which are pretty stout and tarry. I got a big lip full of some fine cut wintergreen skoal, and was surprised that I got a slight nicotine buzz. Hell, a can of decent brand smokeless tobacco is more than a pack of cigarettes anyway. Another negative: snuff would tend to trickle down the back of my throat and cause me to get annoying hiccups that were hard to get rid of.

Snuff like Skoal and Copenhagen is pretty gross in my opinion... but not NEARLY as disgusting as Red Man chewing tobacco.  I tried some of that crap once. I'd have to say that I'd rather pick up a freshly shat cat turd and suck the juices out of it than to EVER EVER EVER[/i] put that nastiness in my mouth again. I was ready and willing to start licking sandpaper until my tongue was bleeding to remove my tastebuds so that I wouldn't have to taste that foul wretchedness anymore. And if you happen to accidentally swallow some of it... you'll be doubled over puking your shoelaces up until you pass out from exhaustion.
