Q2 client for Vista

I'm stuck with vista on a laptop atm. I hate it. it sucks sucks sucks SUCKS. But I want to do some Q2 while I work on getting my XP box back up. I tried r1q2 but the OGL/RGL but it runs less then 1fps. Can't get software to work with r1q2.
Very aggravating.

Install video card drivers, if that doesn't help, your integrated video probably isn't good enough for gaming.

That's odd. I have an HP 17 inch laptop I just bought that has the POS Vista installed but Quake 2 worked flawlessly. I didn't even install it - just copied the whole c:\quake2 directory to it and the first time I ran it, no problem. When I connected to a server it gave me the "firewall" message and I said it was OK and I connected. I do not run r1q2 since it will not run either on my XP comp or Vista. And I don't feel like trouble-shooting it for hours to find out why. So its just Quake 3.21 for me.
Try just using vanilla Q2 3.21.

Q2 works fine on Vista for me. Except I can't get used to the different mouse acceleration Vista uses, so I'm sticking with XP. I use R1GL btw. Like R1CH said, you may be using Vista's default video drivers which probably suck.

manually download & installing the latest drivers worked. Strange as I ran an auto-update & it said it as up to date. Was actually 1 year old.

Auto update only updates MicroShaft drivers.

I don't worship the devil. Jesus is Lord, friend. He died for your sins. He will forgive you if you just ask.
