Light of Doom

Has anyone seen the show Next Great American Band this season?
I'd never seen it before, until last night, and I was kinda surprised to see a pretty decent metal band on any sort of music-related tv programming.

The odd thing was, the musicians in the band are like 12.
and they're covering music that came out well before they were even alive..
and doing it pretty damn well.

The band is called "Light of Doom".

To put this in context, this is the first time in recent memory that anything on TV (other than a couple shows on comedy central)surprised me in a positive manner.

They look really annoying. I guess the frowns are supposed to mean they're serious metal musicians.

they sound ok, but they pretty much are a 'Hanson' metal bad. a bunch of 12 and 13 yr old.  voices changing lol not a good recipe

Oh ya, I agree. They're a gimmick band, and the gimmick is that they are young. I see such a thing as hurting their chances of ever being taken seriously in music when they get older. If done proper (ie without, quote, "selling out" like these kiddie bands tend to do), they might have a chance at acheiving success after puberty rears it's head, but given what we all know about these types of trends... not likely.

For their age, they're very good. But their music isn't anything that satisfies my pallette personally. You wouldn't catch me buying their album.
