Best band in the world that actually still puts out music (so im discounting the Stones, Zep, AC/DC and any other old school rock bands that rule) i would say is Audioslave.

I dunno what's my fav band: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Rush, U2, Metallica, Van Halen, Sammy Hagar, Ozzy Osbourne, Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Celtic Frost, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Salyer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Eagles....Lots of bands, lots of music....

Out of all the metal bands out there now, I think Machine Head is by far the best metal band of the new millenium. Their new album is going to stand the test of time. It takes on Metallica's Master of Puppets and Slayer's Reign in Blood. If you haven't heard 'The Blackening' go by the album now, if good old fashioned thrash metal is your thing.
