Anyone here listen to Jazz?
« on: April 11, 2007, 09:47:40 PM »
As I was growing up in high school back in the 60's my musical taste was solidly into rock and blues. Zep, Hendrix, Stones etc. Jazz music was pretty much as boring as you could get. Things stayed pretty much like that until CD's came along in the early 80's. The first CD's were all re-issues of popular mainstream albums. But a lot of older jazz material was being re-mastered into CD as well. So I bought "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis and listened. Now these guys could play. I then bought a CD magazine that had their picks of must-have classic jazz albums from the 40's to the present day. I bought most of them and a whole new world opened up. This was very complex music that only the best musicians could play. Or understand. And they did it effortlessly.
I'm building a huge collection of jazz albums (MP3) thanks to my favorite newsgroup and I have to say - its difficult to find a bad jazz album. Contrast that with the current pop/rock assortment of music and its easy to find a lot of bad music.

I enjoy and listen to jazz but my favorite type of music is a mixture between blues and southern rock. Jazz and the history of Jazz has always been an interest to me. Especially being that toking was one of the primary causes of it's creation  :ubershock:

Hey ReCycled, you know I love jazz! I was in High School in the early 90s and everyone was listening to Nirvana, Pearl Jam Jane's et al. I was into Cream, Clapton the Stones and the like and started working my way backwards towards their musical icons. This lead me to Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf T-bone Walker and many many others. Somehow all that blues music and guitar playing lead me to Wes Montgomery types of players and eventually I started listening to all kinds of jazz music.  Jazz is life man.

DM server is fucked. 2 point blank rockets from spawn and lava damage and player survived? WTF?" Also someone has fucked with the spawn points, every single time no matter how big the map you spawn right in front of the person who killed you last
