In attempting to be an active community contributor and student at the same time, I try to merge the two areas as much as possible. A golden oppurtunity has come my way in my english class this semester. The assignment is creation of anything that presents an arguement, be it a video, poem, song, dance, whatever.

I opted to host a quake deathmatch session. In specific, I will be presenting a map of mine and giving commentary on how the architecture of the map dictates the gameplay. It would be wierd if I flew around an empty map though, so I'm inviting a few people to help me present this by connecting to the server at the time and playing one 10 min dm game on my map.

There are already a few people (RottenRose, Quest, DeathStalker, MangyMutt) who I am nailing down as much as possible to be there. I can probably stand to have a couple more people though, so here's the thread.

DETAILS
Date: Thursday the 24th of May.
Time: Unknown, time will be provided soon.
Where: A server on tx.tastyspleen.net. Specifics coming soon.
Why: To make one of the most badass school project events ever!

I will be making sure that the presentation is recorded decently, so that all participants will be able to see what they contributed to.

Sure why not, if it's for a good cause. Be warned I haven't loaded up Quake 2 since sometime in March.

sounds coolman count me in, lol im haveing a big shitstorm here at my school about quake2, lol some one put it on the schools shared servers * not me* lol but it turned or school into a giant lan party for about a week

Thank you everybody who showed up, even though it was more of a BETA presentation than anything else. I ran out of compile time, so I had to leave the map unfinished for now. I'll do the final within the next couple days.

The class presentation went smoothly and perfectly - and a video is on it's way as a reward to participants.

This held a lot of meaning to me, since it's my first q2 release. Now I just need to polish it up and finish.
