Name on the demo zip

Is there any reasoning behind the horrid naming of the zips? While the .dm2 files have easy to understand names the zip files are totally impossible for me to work something out of cause it just numbers (101010447.zip or something like that), would be nice to have the zips named something like round#-player1-player2-(map#)-mapname.zip or something like that. Just that browsing the demos are close to impossible unless you go to each matchthread and find the demos there.

Ya I zip it up as whoevervswhoever and it still ends up as a #...so talk to whoever is zipping them again..laurelin?

i'll break it down for you...

01011001

01 = tourney #1 (signifies the first tasty spleen tourney)

01 = round #1 (signifies the first round of the tourney)

10 = match #10 (signifies with the match number your game has in the fourms)

01 = game #01 (signifies the game number in the round)

I can't say why it was decided to have them all put up this way.. all I can say is that's what eas agreed upon before I became a part of the tourney team.

Laurelin is running the tourney, so I'm offering this merely as a suggestion - but it seems it should be possible to do both?  I.e. unix filenames can be pretty long, so - one could presumably include both the fancy tourny/round/match/game number at the beginning of the filename, followed by something more directly human readable... E.g.

01011001-player1-player2-aerowalk.zip

?

Yep,

Just wanted something coherent (numbers) that would order the 'same tourney' together, same rounds together, and so on - So that you don't get different stuff(tourneys, unrelated match, etc..) mixed up with others. (like, starting the Namefile with player names).

Console's suggestion is perfect.
We shall proceed that way from now on.

Yep, great idea. It's not so different from zips downloaded from other sites then, and as long as the names are there somewhere it doesnt really matter how many numbers you fell like adding
