I'll have to agree about the Gravity Gun being #1 =)  I had never heard of that gun from Turok, the one that drills into the targets head and explodes, haha, that one kicks ass!

Absolutly, the Rail gun should heve diffantly been in atleast in the top 5. The cerebral bore was introduced in Turok 2 Seeds of Evil. It was a devestating Death Match weapon. Once it locked on there was no escape from it unless you could out manuver it through coridors. Always reminded me of those balls in Phantasm. It took a while but it would finally explode in air. I also feel it should have been in the top 5.

I also agree that the rail should have been higher, up, but I would have nominated the BFG as the number one spot; it really esptablished the tradition of 'super weapon' in the fps genre.

It seems (to me) like the only weapon on this list that requires a smattering of skill is the railgun...

I suppose the flaw was that they tried to narrow it down to 10, which doesn't include nearly enough of the explosive awesomeness of years past.

I dunno, I would have to say the best weapon that I have used in a game is the rocket launcher/chaingun combo in the game painkiller.

its a rox launcher w/ alt chaingun...sweet weapon and nice looking....I believe it got weapon of the year in pcgamer magazine the year the game came out too.



Combo seems to be fire a rocket at a player's feet and send him into the air, then shoot him with the chaingun for 4X damage (in single player). RL is 100 damage max. On pickup RL ammo is 5, chaingun is 0. RL reload is about 0.75s, chaingun fires about 15 rounds a second. Direct rocket hit is 100h damage, minimum chaingun hit is 25 (2 rounds?).
