Why the 4th Tournament still going on.

I'm one of the admins for the 4th Tourney: the 2v2 team deathmatch tourney.

I am open to suggestions on how to encourage people to play their games.  I've messaged people over and over and not received a response in most cases.  As one of the tourney admins, I'm like a ref at a sports event who is there to make sure things run smoothly.  I can't make people show up for games.

1) The pro bracket is messed up because so many people have dropped.  I've suggested to the players that we reshuffle to accommodate the players still in; however, even that fell through.  In most cases, you can just give a team a BYE if the other team drops; but, the tourney would be a sham if a team only plays one or two games with the rest being BYEs.  So, unless people come back, we may have to just freeze the pro bracket as incomplete.

2) The sport can play out all the way.  Let's make that happen.  Byes can be applied where players are dropped or are unresponsive.

• Shovel.Ds - titties vs Radiant - Pawnzo
• Sean - Deathtoll vs e|haunted - Mya
and

• the resulting win/loss games from the above matches

3) The novice bracket can EASILY play out all the way.  Byes can be applied where players are dropped or are unresponsive.  All that is left:

• [BTF]Ad^m - {SX}Reflex plays Frobe^K][L^ - ChacalK][LL
• The winner of that match plays [BTF]Rogal - [BTF]DeadBeat

well to me the reason I'm not really interested in the tourney anymore is because of all the byes and games not played. Like me and maddy are pretty much the only team that played to actually get where we are. While Element and Cubbi didn't even play a game yet. I'm not saying they wouldn't have made it this far...but still it'd be funner to me to play a team that deserved to be there by winning a couple games.

It's not very motivating when you see almost all the people going up the ladder without playing. So to me the tourney becamse kinda meaningless as most people who advanced didn't advanced for the right reasons.

I'm not blaming anyone. But the lack of motivation from a lot of people kinda affected my own motivation to pursue this. Sorry.

This does kinda suck, I see Ben's point.. I stuck it in for this tourney to only get bye after bye after bye.. cubbi is also my 3rd partner for this tourney cause of drop outs.. i dunno, we should just play it and get it over with anyway..

2v2 sounds good in theory, but it doesn't seem to work nearly as well as 1v1 or 4v4.  Even the European 2v2 championship ended with a forfeit.

Single elim would have been better for one thing.  I'd like to see novice and sport finish up at least since there are only a few players left in each.

Another suggestion that has probably been made already:

Set a deadline for unplayed matches.  Hopefully the matches then get scheduled, but if not, give a forfeit loss to the lower seed.

The tourney's might end with nothing but forfeits, but at least it will finally be over.

I feel that anyone who hasn't scheduled their matches by now( or at least made some posts in an
attempt to prove they tried) should not be too concerned if they end up getting a forfeit loss.

Sure there will be a few people who will cry about their "loss", but if they didn't care enough to play the match,
after many months, then they really had nothing to lose at all. It's not like they'd win the tournament by not playing...

Although, It would be quite shady to see a team win that had bye after bye and finally won by forfeit.
I haven't checked the standings recently, so I'm not sure if this could actually happen...

Either way, we can't start another 'till that one's closed up, so get playing you elitist TDM bastards!
