i wanna convert from dm2 to avi.

theres everything for quake2.

a couple clients like q2a and aprq2 (recommended) has a aviexport feature.. or you could use fraps but it wont be as good of quality

Can you choose the codec it uses, or does it just do uncompressed video?

uncompressed.. i use virtualdub and choose any codec to compress it (xvid ftw)

o_O uncompressed video can take up quite a bit of space.

Though for compressing have you checked out h264, it's much better than xvid.  You can get the open source version here, www.x264.nl

yeah, that codecs really good except for lower end pc's.. my old pc couldn't handle them without skipping so i use xvid in case someone with a shitty system wants to watch it

Is it possible to have aprq2 split the AVI's at 1GB.

I just did one that went to 4GB's, and it came out corrupt due to the AVI file size limit.
