If you are going register at the website and then register for the con http://www.quakecon.org
if you don't go it won't matter, but if you do it will (actually the ones I have been to they let anyone register in line )

is anyone else going?  I think questt is, I could be there easily myself!

What do you do if you just go to watch, stand behind a rope line or something?  I'm sure players wouldn't want you right over their shoulders. 

Additionally, I am missing out on some of the cryptic references mentioned in this thread, like "db".  WTF?

Slikk that last time I went they had a bunch of tables arranged in a huge square with all the computers on the tables facing the center.
They had those movie theater ropes around it set back about 3 feet.  You could still see the action, but not bother the players.  For the competition I mean.

It's funny to me that we get hundreds, thousands, millions(?) get together via the internet, and now we come together in person..strange. I'd consider such an extravaganza but then I read about spectators behind ropes. "course by now you all know I play butt naked.

hehe ive met a few ppl ive gamed with on the internet.  At local lan's a few of them were actually in a whole clan by themselves but they were all into action and lihium quake. I pretty much just had my way with them at the lan it was hillarious

But i agree its weird to meet people in person that you know on the internet only .. its like you cross a barrier its weird but usually you get to know that person better. Its good stuff
