DEDICATED SERVER

well i have an extra computer and i wanna run a server 24/7 but im kinda new and have no idea where to start. I read tutorials online and there all really confuseing could some one spare some help. I downloaded a ZIP and it had the following files (maps.lst , q2.bat , server.cfg) I would like to run a deathmatch server so please if anyone could help please respond asap.

run a tdm server! theres already enough ffa servers and theres only tastyspleen tdm servers

Well can you help me out then?? I just wanna get a server up and running and i got the computer to do so. Can ya help?

id suggest running a tourney server and let the ppl vote for either ffa or tdm..

i tried googling for the server files but the links i found are dead, which seems to happen almost everytime i try searching for q2 files on google

im sure someone else has a link or the files they can send you.. but once u get the files just run c:\quake2\quake2.exe +set game tourney +set dedicated 1 +exec server.cfg

or whatever the server cfg's name is.. if you have a firewall or router be sure to open up the ports you're going to use.. i think the default is 27910
