Made landfall 50 minutes from my house. Power is out for 2-3 days. Neighbor is running my generator on my chest freezer for a couple hours each day, because I'm working in NJ and wife and kids are at my parents house(that's a first, evacuating to the hurricane Capitol of the world 🤣). Here in NJ it's hitting us. Power out, tornadoes, and fires. Sirens blaring every 5 minutes but all is good.

Man, what a reminder of how unprepared places in jersey are for storms(irene and sandy). Nothing like how caught-with-your-pants-down new Orleans was for Katrina, but this brief storm has caused a food shortage. The power went out for less than 24 hours. EVERY SINGLE GROCERY STORE HAD TO THROW AWAY THEIR PERISHABLE FOOD. Anything that's frozen or kept cold. It completely blows my mind that none of them have generators. So many tourists on the jersey shore, too. What will they do without their Lobstah rolls and bagels for 2 days?!

Yeah, I would think with the amount of times that hurricanes initially hit the Florida through North Carolina coasts and then move north at least through New Jersey (how many fuckin times has that happened in the last 25 years???) that those people would be more prepared for these things.

You're not kidding. I live in NC and fortunately our town didn't suffer too badly (trees down, power out for a few hours) but what if this fucker had slammed into us head on as a cat 3? We'd have been wiped off the map.
