i think there is a problem with the tastyspleen servers. iv been talking to the developer of the client egl in this forum post

he seems pretty sure that this is an issue with our servers here, that it refuses my connection to servers AFTER i connect to them
i CAN connect fine from ASE, but after that, goto command or just plain using the connect command. it will refuse my connection

i had thought this was a bug in his engine, as it didnt give me a connection refused error. however, he was able to reproduce this issue with r1q2 and some other clients. it just hangs. or spams that its trying to connect. he was able to connect sometimes tho

a new version of egl was released today. i was able to connect to vanilla ok, however i was not able to connect to any others

Wow - bizarre.

I use r1q2 b6359 with no trouble on all the servers.

The behavior you describe--being able to connect from ASE, but once connected, further 'goto' or console connect commands don't work--seems like an interesting clue, . . . . but I can only guess as to the implications (something is changing in the client state that the server doesn't like... possibly triggering some hacked-client-detect in r1q2 or q2admin erroneously.)

We should probably arrange to meet up sometime where I can watch on the server side for clues when you try to connect.

sounds good been having this problem for ages, ever since i started using egl
so you can see why i thought thats what it was untill now

i havent been able to use goto at all, id always have to quit and use ase again
i forgot to say that when it goes into its "hang mode" that if i try to connect to the server again
it works fine

im at work atm, maybe we can meet on irc and do this later
