What are client commands for better ping, etc?

Have you tried, "HEY YOU CLIENT! I DEMAND A BETTER PING! GIVE IT TO ME NOW!"?

But seriously... there are none.

Are you using Q2PRO? mrt recently pointed out to me if you are using that client and don't have your cl_maxpackets set to zero your ping will be higher. My cl_maxpackets was set to 30 for some reason and that added 10-20ms to my ping. Once I set it to zero, I got a ping that resembled something closer to what I get with R1Q2.

There is one more thingy Barton in q2pro

cl_packetdup      Number of backup movement commands client includes in each new packet, directly impacts upload rate. Unless connected using Q2PRO protocol, hardcoded value of 2 backups per packet is used. Default value is 1.

All TS servers are r1q2 meaning using protocol 35 so q2pro is forced to use 2 backup packet per packet
