I haven't watched it yet, I'm cooking, but one additional thought here....

Resolution and screen size go hand-in-hand, although not directly proportionate, in general though in a highly relative sense, they are. Assuming the higher resolution = more pixels for the hardware to process, wouldn't surface area then me an indirect factor of the display lag?

I can really notice the difference with a really crisp high refresh rate and response time display... but I have never thought LCD's were as bad as people bitch about lol

If your game in quake is decided by a small amount of display lag, you are either playing some one incredibly close to your skill, or you aren't playing right

@haunted, no display size =/= resolution... i have a 17in screen, 1920x1080

guys, as I've said, I've played games on the exact gaming monitors that minimize lcd lag that quadz spoke of... If ever there's a situation where individual frame priority comes into play, I don't care what game it is, you're at a disadvantage with even the best LCD monitor. In an FPS it just seldom happens and when/if it ever does, it would go unnoticed... because that sort of technical barrier has never been achieved with any FPS that I know of. This means that yes, by your individual experience, lcd lag does seem over-hyped... but taking that stance just means you are misinformed about it.

I have perhaps attributed some  semi-incorrect reasons for why display lag occurs, but I have noticed it, observed it, experimented with it, and draw conclusions from it for why it's happening. I am obviously a lot more aware of it than any of you, and my discussion with quadz is nothing but helping me better interpret what I already know.

And vae, the larger the screen is the better you can take advantage the actual benefit of higher resolutions, visibly, to the naked eye. That is obviously what I meant.

If your game in quake is decided by a small amount of display lag, you are either playing some one incredibly close to your skill, or you aren't playing right

and this^...

This is why I stressed individual frame priority actually being a factor in the top metagame in some games, exchanges actually being decided on the frame... the "incredibly close to your skill level" or "not playing right" just sort of shows you're not grasping what I'm saying here. That is just complete randomization... I don't mean any offense by that, because as I said I can see why people would think that from a solely fps background.....because there's not an fps I know where shit like that goes down.

The point is, once you know it exists, you know it's a factor in any game... except it's nearly going to be impossible to recognize or point out in most games, inasmuch as it's unlikely to happen in any fps.

How large is your lcd?

About 17″ inches. Monitor lag has never really been a problem for me, though. If there IS lag, it's totally unnoticeable.

Yeah, I use a 17" LCD also, and it's unnoticeable to me as well, in q2... but that's mainly due to 1) it happening in q2 FAR, far less than some games and 2) not being able to recognize it given the nature of the exchanges that happen in q2. Basically, I know that it exists, but I've always assumed it to be so subtle with my 17" with q2, that it's a tremendously small fraction of an influence to the extent that it doesn't even matter.........................but only because frame priority never matters in q2(and when it ever does, no one, including myself, would recognize it).

DM server is fucked. 2 point blank rockets from spawn and lava damage and player survived? WTF?" Also someone has fucked with the spawn points, every single time no matter how big the map you spawn right in front of the person who killed you last
