Could not exec cfg when map starts

Just curious. Every map tries to run some kind of cfg when it starts and I always see in the console some message stating that the cfg could not execute. What are these cfg files, and why don't they execute?

I believe that is a function of r1q2. It allows you to run a different config specific to each map. I don't know of anyone who actually uses it, but I suppose such a thing would mainly be used by TDM players who always play the same few maps over and over.

I guess the idea is you can have different binds for different maps, but then again, most people are going to mostly the same binds on ALL maps. I've never done anything with it myself, but maybe those particular map cfg's are used for team games when you want to report locations to team members. Not really sure how loc's work. Having different cfgs for different maps as {mapname}.cfg's isn't something TDM players are really gonna use. Most of the time, they have different cfg's that they can exec and load through one bind on their main autoexec.cfg.

So if I understand, R1Q2 is trying to run a config file based on the map name, but because that config file doesn't exist on my computer, I get the message "Couldn't exec xxxxx.cfg". Learn something new every day.

I use extra cfg's for maps that are dark and have a dark sky. For instance koth6 is a map that runs on Vanilla and has high rocks with black areas which make it hard to spot campers up there against the dark sky. So now whenever that map comes up my cfg/koth6.cfg changes the dark space sky to a very bright one.
