best way to handle this?

i format my system drive a few times a year, and im starting to feel that itch again to do it
but i have a problem, my system drive is divided into 2 partitions. one is for windows and related programs and the other is for files
iv always done it this way, but iv never had any files on the second partition until now

obviously totaly nuking my drive this time will delete that second partition too, so i was going to just format the one that i use for windows
but i then saw somewhere that the second partition is part of the first and formating the first would nuke the second

is there any way around this?

Partitions are partitions, formatting one won't touch the others. Only if you do a full disk format (which you never should) will you lose everything on the disk.

thats what i thought, but iv just havent done it that way very much

i always deleted all the partitions on the disk and remade them and formated them again, but you say thats bad? or you ment having just one partition?
so this is what im going to do, im thinking i may also flash my bios hehe. the version i used the last time has a bug where it messes up the bios settings sometimes and i have to use default again to make it boot

and even if things dont turn out good, none of the things on there are that important anyways
