This might be a too hesty thing, but I am thinking of ressurecting BAND, but may need help from the Q2 community, I figured this would be the place for this topic to go, so here I am! If anyone remembers me, my maps, and BAND included you would know I was trying to make a new MMO style Game with the Quake2 Engine. Well anyone wanting to help, just PM me, or write ideads here, or hell, goto my site www.aceintergraphs.com and see what all the fuss is about. I am not advertising, I am just giving the Q2 community a heads up on future plans that may take place.... If anyone wants to help or is interrested in a new project, contact me or PM me again... Or if Quake2 is getting too old for you, maybe can help me with Seal Online Vengence... Anyways just thought I would give you all guys a heads up on a future project, hope to get posistive and helpfull feedback on this....

...and while your at it... Quadz if you read this, just link to my site instead of that TGA thing IF I go with this project that is! Since it is going to be Q2 related I think... Anyways Hope to hear from yall guys, and I am getting old btw and

Fix my tag, I don't chat much, just put something like OLD FART or something or old Q2 Player so people don't think I am some newb everytime I post sheesh!

All ideas have been taken, I just want the community to know, and wonder about there thoughts on this, I am trying to keep info shy to dry untill It comes out, becuase this WILL SELL MORE THAN ANY MMO AND DM GAMES WILL EVER DREAM OF SELLING, so I do not want to spoil it, or risk stealing of the ideas coming ahead in a new Game... I will be buying the licenses once its ready to be finalized, but you can keep up with the info and news on my site, www.aceintergraphs.com or here if I say anything here about it, so far there is nothing, but ideas thrown arround between me and my programmer/modeler, he is busy right now, and so am I, but we are going to make this happen... I am the lead designer, map designer, texture artist, web page designer, CEO, and the person who will make the interfaces, he will just do the programming, model designs, and skinning or texturing of the models...

PS: If you want to make a helping hand in this project, not arguementive on our ideas, and feel you are really interested in this, wont quit, then I may include you in this for support and help, also OPEN Beta it will be in.... So since it is not ready, you will all see it when its done.... right now we are deciding on how we are going to impliment the engine and worldcraft at the same time, becuase we are not sure about the Q2 engine, and may fall back on it, but take some ideas fromm it, like some of the features but not all... The reason we are discussing is becuase of the limitations we may hit on Q2's engine, however we are building all this arround worldcraft since my programmer is being nice enough to let me use that, instead of some other editor or a new one, or at least base our editor off the same concepts as worldcraft to avoid development issues and slow downs.... having to re-learn a progam to build the maps will just slow us down more in other words.... If we can however use the Q2 Engine, it will be the horse we will ride... Untill then, just sit back, relax and enjoy the show!

omfg I can't believe you Quadz... haha you know I hate C++ with a passion...

funny thing is your right... and I bet you would help if you was not so busy with this site and life right? Anyways, an extra programmer would do us good... unless of course my programmer decides to shift gears... as long as we use worldcraft or an editor simular and nearly the same as worldcraft we will be fine, otherwise, the doors will shut...

Just to clarify. . . .

I was laughing because you said so-and-so is 'just' doing the programming.

Basically, unless you're developing a game like Myst (principlally a series of multimedia slides linked together by scripts), then you'll need to realize it's the code that drives the capabilities and constraints of the system.

Especially if you're talking about creating a commercial MMO. Nobody is 'just' doing the programming. Code will be king on your project.

In short, when I read this -- "I am the lead designer, map designer, texture artist, web page designer, CEO, and the person who will make the interfaces, he will just do the programming, ..." -- I'm envisioning you driving at blind speed toward an unpleasant collision with reality.

Well that is why I came here, becuase I rather use the Q2 engine than anything.... meaning more help... I lead the project, but it does not mean I wont accept help by others, I am sure someone out here would like to participate, If they can handle it I hope, becuase I will be a bit picky, and alot of people don't like pickyness.... I just want to make sure everything matches seamlessly is all, I am not trying to be mean if someone comes in saying, "Yo, Ace do this, or I think that... or this will not work....", and I say no. I won't always replay with something posistive on those type of questions or demends, and depends on the situation and what they are teling me to do or the idea that they wish to see... So yes, I know that 2 People can not work solely on one project, I realise this, however... I am not going to let this project comes together like crap, but I also do not want anyone to steal my projects or take them away or just throw it together without knowing the "plan"..... I mean if someone is serious about this I rather them PM me, than talk on here out in the open too much about it.... I risk ideas being stolen, that are original, and mixed with other styles of games becuase now days its hard to come up with something totally fresh. So, when I say "only" it means that he is literly the only one doing this at the moment... And to be ho0nest I would like modelers and more programmers, and skin artist... and texturer artist.... as long as everything matches seemlessly I have no problem with it, but if someone quits on me and runs off with the info they have, or steals then yes I will have an issue with it...

Its Offical Band will be made, using the Q2 Engine, just got to get the EXE to be compiled, and we are set, once past the Alpha stage, and Beta starts, and things turn out ok, I will be buying a licnese, to get off the GNU

I probably should have pointed this out a lot earlier

YA3dAG is a q2 total conversion mod and has a lot of features already, like terrein, NPCs and dialog, and newton physics. The source and and everything is out for it. It might be a better starting point.

Not to be rude, its nothing like what we are doing, it has nice graphical addon features, but after seeing the videos, the level artist, did not do a good Job on the levels, I could do better :/ But thanks for the tidbit info, we can't use this engine I don't think either, we may have to start from scratch for a licensed copy to sell, that one we might get in trouble for using. Same wioth EGL, but this is a learning experience to know what ahead down the road, so I suppose it would not hurt to check out the coding for that game. Peewee, I wish you could join us on helping, you sound very interested in this project, IM when your ready, and think you can help...

PS. I don't think they use there own textures as well... and models look nice, we could use more model artists who are serious on this too!

As the growth of BAND continues I am still in need of the Q2 community for help, since the programming is semi-taken care of, we still need modelers, to help make monsters, characters, and the alike, so PM me if your interested in helping, the models will belong to BAND, and you must understand in the future this may be sold after licenseses and rights and such. But again, if your interested in helping us out, PM me, and I will check out your skill level, and if your impressive, I will include you on in the team. This is a serious thing, not a fly-by-night project, this will take time, but the more help we get the faster this project will compleate.
