Simple autoexec creation

I was just lookin around for nothing in particular, and I ran across this:

It runs you through a bunch of video options and whatnot that may help improve performance, if your running a slower comp.  I guess if you are afraid to dive into the q2 config and mess around with settings, this would be a good alternative.  Just thought it was kinda neat.  Maybe it will help someone out.

That auto-exec creator would be a neat for tool for a newbie..the only thing i want to point out on it for those ppl who are serious railers...is becareful when turning the particles and rocket tails off. Since the spiral of the rail gun is made up of nothing other than particles...this will cause your rail gun to be invisible when shot...it will still shoot obviously but you won't be able to see it. Just a warning.

Now that I've used these tweaks, no one can beat me...NO ONE...lol.  If only that were true...   But a good find for the newbs, JQ.  And, to be honest, some of these I had long forgotten about.  

With newer video cards so far ahead in terms of performance as to what was avail in the days of the Voodoo 2's, I'm not sure any of these will help.  But always fun to experiment.

im really surprised that alot of you didn't already know of these things.  planetquake.com has everything you need, and if not, it has the links.  if you have a fast computer these tweaks will not do anything though.  some people think if they apply these tweaks their pings will be better, but thats not the case on newer pc's...two seperate problems.  though, my ping is 30 on average, I still lag due to my slower older pc, but that is software lagging.  software/hardware lag will not affect your ping per say, but it can affect the packets you send.


this is all you really need to change.
 
set rate 8000 (this is about average, a little higher or lower can help or hurt depending on your connection)
gl_modulate 5
vid_gamma .4 (brighten those dark areas, lower the brighter)
