Linux-Windows? Basic-Dynamic?

heyas
im hoping that some of the experinced computer users can help me out here
i want to dual boot my current XP install with the new mandriva 2006 linux
problem is, my second hard disk is dynamic
i had a big issue when i installed this new motherboard and cpu earlier this year
it totaly whipped out my second hard drive which was dynamic
why is my hard drive dynamic? i have no idea. everytime iv tried to format it
it turned out dynamic
anyways, im afraid that installing linux is gunna corrupt my dynamic hard drive, sounds kinda stupid
but all my none system files are on the hard drive, taking up a little over 50GB. and after what happened before
im kinda paranoid
lol
now, i can convert it back to basic, but that would also whipe out the hard drive
i do, however have enough space on my system drive to hold all the files from my second
but, it will come 8GB short of completly filling up my my system disk. why is that a problem?
where i work, a few of the employee hard drive have "blown up" sort of. they were really using them like crazy
so im afirad that my system hard drive is gunna go boom rofl
why? well. iv been resizing the system partition alot with partition magic, making partitions then merging them back into the system one
im afraid that it might damage it if i do anything big to stress it like that anymore
do i really have anything to be a afraid of? is this safe?

man i suck at computers rofl
pay no attention to my previous blabbering
i moved my files to my system disk and converted my second disk to basic and formated it
and i am in the process of moving files back onto my second drive
after reading up alot on dynamic disks, i have come to he conclusion that they are only useful in certin situations
and it probabaly would have caused me a big headache if i had kept it that way, or had converted my system disk aswell
not sure why it only formated as dynamic to begin with, ill have to pay more attention when im installing xp next time
now i am free to dual, triple, quad boot my system with what ever the heck i like and use my second hard disk aswell for them
i think i might quad boot my system with MS-DOS 7.10(unofficial), Win98SE, WinXP, and some linux distro later on
